City of Colton <br />WASTEWATER MECHANIC I (continued) <br />EXPERIENCE AND, EDUCATION - Any combination of experience and education that would <br />likely provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the <br />knowledge and abilities would be: <br />Experience: <br />One year of experience in the maintenance and repair of wastewater plant and facilities which <br />demonstrates the possession of and competency in the requisite knowledge, skills and <br />abilities. <br />Education: <br />High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent. <br />ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB: <br />Incumbents must be able to perform heavy manual labor associated with wastewater operations which <br />may include lifting objects weighing between 25-50 pounds and includes working with the full range <br />of body movements involving reaching, bending, grasping, and climbing. Tasks involve working <br />with hazardous chemicals and wastewater influent and wastewater effluent and may require entering <br />confined spaces which involves wearing self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA). <br />LICENSE AND CERTIFICATE <br />Possession of a valid State of California Class B driver's license and a driving record consistent with <br />City policy. <br />Possession of a valid Grade I California Water Environment Association Certificate issued by the <br />California Water Environment Association (CWEA) is required. A valid Grade H Mechanical <br />Technologist California Water Environment Association Certificate issued by CWEA must be <br />obtained within 24 months of appointment <br />Incumbents in this classification may reclassified through the City's Series Reclassification Policy <br />to Wastewater Mechanic H after obtaining a Grade H Mechanical, Technologist California Water <br />Environment Association Certificate. <br />APPROVED BY COUNCIL <br />WD: W WMECH1 <br />3 <br />
