01y <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />MAINTENANCE WORKER Ii <br />PAGE 2 <br />Removes and installs water meters and fire hydrants. <br />Assists in interments and disinterments at the cemetery. <br />Assists in surface preparation, layout and painting street lanes, center lines, crosswalks, school <br />crossings, warning surface signs, parking lanes, and direction signs. <br />Paints designated curb areas. <br />Assists in the installation of traffic control sign. <br />Assists in the construction, maintenance and repair of city buildings and facilities, eluding <br />semi -skilled painting, carpentry, plumbing, electrical, masonry, plastering, g a <br />ock <br />work. <br />Occasionally acts as leadman on maintenance, repair and minor construction operations; may <br />participate in an emergency standby program. <br />DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS: <br />Knowledge of• <br />The methods, •materials, tools and equipment used in street and sewer construction, <br />maintenance and repair. <br />Operation and maintenance of equipment such as power mowers, branch and limb <br />chippers. <br />Park maintenance, including the planting, cultivating, pruning, propagating, trimming <br />and care of shrubs, plants, trees and lawns. <br />Materials, tools and techniques used in the installation and maintenance of pipes, meters, <br />mains, gates and related equipment. <br />Safe driving practices and state and local laws pertaining to the operation of motor <br />vehicles. <br />Ability igL <br />Perform semi -skilled construction, maintenance and repair work. <br />Use of hand and power tools and equipment. <br />Make plumbing hook-ups by cutting and threading pipe as required. <br />c:\pershare\jobs\MW2.DOC <br />
