R- 09 -97 <br />2' <br />3 RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />4 CITY OF COLTON ENDORSING THE <br />"CALIFORNIA FIRST" CONGRESSIONAL <br />5 SUMMIT SPONSORED BY SOUTHERN' <br />CALIFORNIA ASSOCIATION OF <br />6 GOVERNMENTS (SLAG) <br />7I <br />8 WHEREAS, the Southern California Association of Governments (SCAG) is a <br />9 joint Powers Agency OPA) established pursuant to Sections 6502 et. seq. of the <br />:j <br />10 California Government Code; and <br />11 ! WHEREAS, SCAG is the designated Metropolitan Planning Organization <br />12 <br />(MPO) for the counties of Imperial, Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, <br />13 <br />14 ' <br />and Ventura; and <br />15 WHEREAS, the Southern California region of 15 million people has numerous <br />ij <br />16 issues of critical concern which can only be successfully resolved when our <br />17 congressional delegation works together in a bipartisan manner and in a unified <br />18 I way; and <br />19 <br />20 <br />i WHEREAS, SCAG has invited every Congress Member from Southern <br />21 'I <br />California to attend a Congressional Leadership Summit, "California First," which <br />22 'I will be held at SCAG on April 11, 1997 to foster unity in the Southern California <br />23 delegation on issues affecting Southern California; and <br />24 !� WHEREAS, the City of Colton recognizes the significance of this event and <br />25 endorses the "California First" Congressional Leadership Summit, which deserves the <br />26 <br />participation, involvement, and support of all officials who have been elected to <br />27.
