CITY OF COLTON <br />SUPERVISING BUILDING INSPECTOR <br />PAGE 2 <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES <br />Coordinate the City's building and rehabilitation and relocation program. <br />Assign and distribute inspection activities to subordinate building inspection personnel. <br />Represent the department in court, at conferences and other public functions. <br />Implement department policies and procedures. <br />Assist in formation of policies and procedures. <br />Perform the duties of lower level building inspection staff as required. <br />Perform related duties as assigned. <br />QUALIFICATIONS <br />Knowledge of: <br />Uniform Building Code, State Building Regulations and related codes, <br />ordinances, and regulations. <br />Building construction and materials, and accepted safety standards. <br />Principles and techniques of structural, electrical, plumbing, and mechanical <br />building inspections. <br />Principles of personnel selection, supervision, training and evaluation. <br />The legal process involved in code enforcement and enforcement techniques. <br />Ability to• <br />Deal effectively with builders, engineers,; architects, and the general public, <br />especially in difficult situations. <br />Communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing. <br />Assign and supervise the work of others. <br />Prepare clear and concise written materials. <br />
