Since then Azusa has experienced moderate load growth of about
2.7*/* per year as the economic environment improved. Most of Azusa's load growth in the past
two years is attributed to small business startups and new housing developments within Azusa.
We anticipate such load growth continue however at a slower pace, bmause of the saturation in
the available land for the new housing developments within Azusa. Such future load growth will
most Probably come from additional small business startups in Azus&
As is the general characteristics of southern California utilities, Azusa's load peaks in the summer
time. Azusa's all time system peak happened on August 14, 1996. Azusa's system peak is mostly
driven by summer air conditioning loads. We project due to the balance mix of Azusa's retail
base, Azusa's annual load factor will remain in the range of about 50% on a year round basis.
Azusa has a balanced retail customer base. The fiscal year 1995/1996 retail sales and revenues by
customer class is summarized below:
Large Industrial
Small industrial
Residential
Commercial
Commercial
Miscellaneous.
TOW
# of Customers
32
1,328
13,390
14,750
% of Total
0.22%
90/0
90-78%
Energy Use (MWh)
67,513
63,658
69,825
200,996
% of Total
33.6%
31.7%
34.70/a
Revenue($1,000)
5,916
6,447
6,696
19,059
% of Total
31%
33.8%
35.2%
As can be seen from the above, Azusa derives retail revenues in a
balanced manner from each
2
