LEGAL ASSISTANT/CONTRACT ADMINISTRATOR <br />Page 3 <br />Modern office methods, procedures and equipment. <br />Organization, procedures and operating details of the City. <br />Negotiation of contracts. <br />Principles of contract administration as they apply to municipal waste contracts, lighting, <br />landscape and maintenance contracts, franchise agreements and other municipal contracts <br />as may be deemed necessary by the City Attorney. <br />Preparation and standards for Requests for Proposals (RFP's). <br />Abilil to: <br />Perform legal research. <br />Write clearly and concisely. <br />Understand and analyze legal issues. <br />Adhere to necessary deadlines and statutes of limitations. <br />Establish standards for compliance review. <br />Evaluate the work and performance of contractors and others to assure compliance with <br />contract and code provisions. <br />Prepare and present accurate written and oral reports on project status. <br />Interpret and enforce contracts, codes, rules and regulations. <br />Negotiate contracts and/or contract renewals. <br />Establish, maintain and coordinate effective working relationships with City staff, <br />contractors and other agencies. <br />Enforce the provisions of contractual agreements for solid waste, lighting and <br />landscaping districts, franchise agreements and other such service or construction <br />contracts as may be directed by the City Attorney. <br />Skill to: <br />Operate an office computer, utilizing Word and Windows. <br />Proper English, spelling and grammar. <br />Perform a wide variety of complex, responsible and confidential duties for the City <br />Attorney. <br />Interpret City policies, rules, and regulations in response to complaints and inquiries, <br />refer inquiries as appropriate. <br />Write and prepare reports and various materials for Council meetings. <br />Type agreements, contracts, and other legal documents, as assigned. <br />APPROVED BY COUNCIL: <br />\pershare\jobs\LEGASST.DOC <br />
