R- -97 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF <br />THE CITY OF COLTON RELATING TO CITY <br />EMPLOYEE TRAVEL POLICY <br />WHEREAS, the City Council encourages employees, elected and appointed officials to <br />(take part in regional meetings and conferences that pertain to the management and policies of <br />the City of Colton; and <br />WHEREAS, the Mayor, members of the City Council and other appointed officials of <br />the City sometimes need to attend business development and educational conferences outside the <br />City to promote economic development and to gain a better understanding of their roles at City <br />leaders; and <br />WHEREAS, during the budgeting process, funds are made available for such general <br />travel purposes by City employees, elected and appointed officials; and <br />WHEREAS, to assure that attendance at meetings and conferences is consistent with the <br />interests of the City and of benefit to employees, elected and appointed officials and the City <br />itself, it is important that the City Council be informed of and approve the specific conferences <br />and meetings which City employees and elected and appointed officials plan to attend prior to <br />such travel; and <br />WHEREAS, whenever members of the City Council or other appointed officials of the <br />City represent the City at conferences and meetings to promote economic development of the <br />City outside the City it is imperative that those Councilmembers be empowered to speak on <br />behalf of the entire City rather than simply as individual members of the City Council or <br />appointed officials of the City; and <br />
