A freeze on hiring of new personnel not currently employed by the City <br />of Colton and upon filling any vacancies that may occur in the future is hereby imposed on all <br />City departments, with the exception of public safety personnel and with the exception of <br />temporary seasonal hiring by the Parks and Recreation Department. <br />SECTION 2. Any department may request lifting of this hiring freeze at any time upon <br />a showing, to the satisfaction of the City Council, that there is a legitimate necessity for filling <br />existing positions that are now vacant or that may become vacant in the future. <br />SECTION 3. This hiring freeze shall remain in effect until further action of the City <br />Council taken in the form of adoption of a resolution which by its express terms specifically <br />rescinds the policy imposed by this Resolution. Adoption of a general budget resolution by the <br />City Council authorizing various position within the City shall not, in itself, be sufficient to <br />rescind the policy established by this Resolution. <br />PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 4th day of March, 1997. <br />ATTEST: <br />Carolina P.
