a CITY OF COLTON <br />SENIOR ACCOUNTANT <br />DEFINITION: <br />Performs a variety of complex professional accounting duties in municipal finance; participates in <br />budgeting and technical accounting work; and may supervise subordinate accounting personnel. <br />SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISED• <br />Receives direction from the Finance Director or designated representative. <br />May exercise direct supervision over professional and para -professional accounting staff. <br />EXAMPLES OF DUTIES: Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: <br />Assist in the development of general ledger trial balances and maintenance of budgetary and <br />accounting controls. <br />Post and maintain records for various accounts and funds. <br />Audit invoices, purchase orders, payable records, and statements covering the City's financial status. <br />Administration of debt service for Community Facilities Districts, Assessment Districts and <br />Redevelopment Agency. <br />Reconcile subsidiary and control accounts and review postings to ensure correct accounting <br />allocations. <br />Examine and verify financial documents, classified and code accounting source data, and make <br />adjusting and closing entries. <br />Participate in the preparation of financial statements, prepare a variety of financial reports and <br />statements to illustrate financial disbursements and balances. <br />Assist in the preparation of budget estimates and in the preparation of the budget. <br />Assist in the preparation of annual financial reports. <br />Provide reports and information regarding the status of financial accounts and funds. <br />Assist in the development and implementation of division goals and objectives. <br />May supervise subordinate personnel in the maintenance of general construction, property, and <br />subsidiary ledgers, journals, and budgetary accounting records in accordance with acceptable <br />accounting procedures, laws, ordinances, and other regulations. <br />May assume division responsibilities in the absence of the Finance Director or designated <br />representative. <br />Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned. <br />
