HUTTON, PUBLIC WORKS DIRECTO <br />SUBJECT: <br />ADDENDUM TO AGENDA REPORT FOR THE <br />PROPOSITION 116 BICYCLE LANE PROJECT <br />DATE: <br />MAY 6,1997 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />As requested in the original staff report dated April 24, 1997, this is the forthcoming <br />addendum referenced, as the additional supplemental information. <br />This project was originally $528,000 and intended for the placement of bicycle lanes <br />and paving of Agua Mansa Road, improving existing road conditions. The project was <br />delayed over several years due to a lack of dedication and landowners objections to <br />the project on Agua Mansa Road, Due to these objections the Aqua Mansa portion of <br />the proiect has been dropped, The City Engineer, attended the California <br />Transportation Commission meeting in March, in the interest of preserving the <br />remaining portion of the project. Money allotted for the remaining "City wide" portion of <br />the project was restored and the project scope changed. This was confirmed by letter, <br />Mid April, at which time the plans were revised and released for immediate bid. The <br />rush to move the project is necessary, since the last date to expend money for this <br />project is June 30, 1997. Delay of one City Council Meeting would have made the <br />construction payment impossible to meet by this deadline. <br />SUMMARY: <br />Two bids were received and publicly read at the bid opening of May 5, 1997.
