CITY OF COLTON <br />BUILDING INSPECTOR I & II <br />PAGE 3 <br />Ability to: <br />Apply technical knowledge and follow proper inspection techniques to examine <br />workmanship and materials, and detect deviations from plans, regulations, and standard <br />construction practices. <br />Learn to perform journey -level inspection skillsina variety of specialty trade areas and <br />to perform competent and efficient work as a combination Building Inspector. <br />Determine that construction systems conform to City Code requirements. <br />Read and interpret building plans, specifications, and building codes. <br />Advise on standard construction methods and requirements. <br />Make arithmetic computations rapidly and accurately. <br />Maintain cooperative working relations, with builders, contractors, and the general public. <br />Enforce necessary regulations with firmness and tact. <br />Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. <br />Maintain accurate and legible records. <br />Prepare clear, concise reports. <br />Experience and Training_ <br />Any combination of experience and ,training that would likely provide the required <br />knowledge and abilities is qualifying. A typicalway to obtain the knowledge and <br />abilities would be: <br />Experience: <br />One year of experience in building inspection or two years of building <br />construction experience <br />Training• <br />Equivalent to the completion of twelfth grade. <br />Building Inspector II <br />In addition to the qualifications for Building Inspector I: <br />Knowledge of: <br />Rules and regulations applicable to building inspections for the City of Colton. <br />cApetshareljobslBLDGINSP.DoC <br />
