EXHIBIT A <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING <br />BY AND BETWEEN <br />THE GENERAL UNIT <br />REPRESENTED BY SAN BERNARDINO <br />PUBLIC EMPLOYEES ASSOCIATION_(SBPEA) <br />AND <br />THE CITY OF COLTON <br />This document contains a summary of the modifications to the wages, hours and <br />other terms and conditions of employment of the General Unit members which have been <br />negotiated pursuant to Government Code Section 3500, et M. which is generally referred <br />to as the Meyers-Milleas-Brown Act. These modifications shall be incorporated in a <br />Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) upon the approval of the City Council of the City <br />of Colton and ratification by the Association and will be placed into effect upon the <br />adoption of the necessary ordinances and resolutions by the City Council, if acceptable to <br />them, in accordance with the terms and conditions hereinafter set forth. <br />I. TERM OF AGREEMENT: The agreement will last for a one year <br />period beginning July 1, 1997 and ending midnight, June 30, <br />1998. <br />II. SALARY: The City will provide to all unit employees a <br />base salary increase of 4% effective retroactive to July 1, <br />1997. <br />III. SAVINGS CLAUSE: Should any provision of this agreement be <br />held invalid by a court of competent jurisdiction, then the <br />remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect. <br />IV. COUNCIL ACTION: If this agreement is acceptable to the <br />City Council, then the City Council shall adopt the Salary <br />
