CITY OF COLTON <br />POLICE DISPATCHER I/II <br />DEFINITION: <br />Under the general supervision of the Police Sergeant, perform a variety of <br />duties assigned to <br />classes in the Dispatcher series including receiving all incoming calls for <br />ce <br />dispatching necessary units, provide general support in communications to depart assistance and <br />learn and demonstrate a full understanding of all applicable Policiesmeet personnel; <br />methods associated with assigned duties; occasionally assist in hpe training of less expe <br />ures work <br />dispatch positions perform a variety of otherponer tasks in support of assigned area of res rienced <br />responsibility. <br />DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: <br />Dispatcher H <br />The Dispatcher H classification is the journey level class in the Dispatcher <br />responsible for performing the full range of dispatch assignments at an independent <br />and is <br />demonstrating thorough and proper judgment and initiative. This class is distinguishedp efr level, <br />Dispatcher I in that the latter is a learning classification with responsibilityforlearning <br />from the <br />and procedures associated with assigned duties. ng policies <br />Disnatcher I <br />The Dispatcher I is the entry level class within the Dispatcher series with <br />nsibility for <br />Performing the :full range of dispatch assignments at a lesser skill level and with lessindependent <br />direction and judgment regarding work procedures and methods. This class is e <br />the Dispatcher H in that the latter performs assigned duties at a 'o 1 level distinguished from <br />supervision, and is expected to demonstrate a full understanding of applicable policies, procedimal <br />and work methods.
