Parrish, Assistant City Manager <br />SUBJECT: Approval of Aman Environmental Construction Contract Change <br />Orders for Street, Storm Drain, Intersection, and Landscaping <br />Improvements Surrounding the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center <br />Totaling $178,193.80 <br />DATE: July 29, 1998 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Aman Environmental Construction Contract, (in the amount of $2,465,237.35) was <br />approved by the City Council to complete the Infrastructure Improvements Surrounding <br />the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center on September 16, 1997. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />Attached are ten relatively small change orders to the Aman Environmental <br />Construction Contract for the Street, Storm Drain, Intersection, and Landscaping <br />Improvements surrounding the Arrowhead Regional Medical Center. A description of <br />each change order and a list of the negotiated settlement items are attached to this <br />report. <br />FISCAL IMPACT: <br />The aforementioned change orders are to be funded via an advance from the County of <br />San Bernardino as per the Medical Center MOU. The advancement of funds will be <br />repaid to the County (without interest) from fees paid by future development as their <br />part towards the mitigation of traffic impacts and storm drainage. There will be no <br />further change orders to the Aman Environmental Construction Contract. The total <br />amount of change orders to the Aman Environmental Construction Contract expressed <br />as a percentage of the original contract is 9.05 %. <br />The MOU identifies Colton's financial responsibility towards the construction of the <br />improvements in percentages, depending upon the specific location of the improvement <br />in the project. Colton's estimated financial share of the aforementioned change orders <br />is estimated to be $89,100. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that the City Council approve Change Orders numbered five through <br />thirteen in the amount of $89,373.15, and the list of negotiated work in the amount of <br />$88,820.65, to the Aman Environmental Construction Contract for Street, Storm Drain, <br />Intersection, and Landscaping Improvements surrounding the Arrowhead Regional <br />Medical Center.
