CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF AUGUST 18, 1998 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor & City Council <br />APPROVAL: Henry Garcia, City Manager <br />FROM: Dennis Morris, Human Resource Directorj`.1 <br />SUBJECT: Request for recruitment and ratification of employee appointment to the full <br />time position of Recreation Services Manager in the Community Center <br />Division of the Human/Neighborhood Services Department. <br />DATE: August 10, 1998 <br />BACKGROUND: There is a need for one (1) Recreation Services Manager position in the Human/ <br />Neighborhood Services Department. Attached is the job description of the classification; the salary range is <br />$3814 - 4636 per month. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: The Recreation Services Manager assists in the daily operation of the <br />(3) Community Centers. This position has been vacant for several months while the previous <br />Manager has been on Leave of Absence and will not be returning to work. The Neighborhood <br />Services Director position is also vacant and will not be filled and filling the Recreation Services <br />Manager position will not interfere with the current proposals being presented to the City <br />Council regarding contracting out certain recreation programs. Recruitment for said position <br />will be conducted and an eligibility list established upon Council approval. The candidate chosen <br />will meet the education and experience requirements as specified in the job description. Filling <br />this position will allow us to have a Community Center Coordinator at the Luque Center on <br />an "ongoing " basis. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funding availability for this general fund position in the fiscal year 98/99 budget <br />funded as follows: Account No. 100-6200-6202-1010 (salary) and Account No. 100-6200-6202-1100 <br />(salary related benefits). <br />EXPECTED FILL DATE: September 1, 1998 <br />CUSTOMER SERVICE IMPACT: To increase the quality of customer service for the Colton Citizens <br />and to increase the services/programs for all (3) three centers. <br />RECOMMENDATION: That City Council approve the recruitment and ratification of the employee <br />appointment to the position of Recreation Services Manager as recommended by the Human Resource <br />Director. <br />Attachment: Job Description <br />Prepared by: Vicki Porter <br />Agd072198 NS Rec Manger itm- # 6 <br />
