City Council Meeting of January 13, 1998 <br />Revised MOU for Multi -Species Habitat Conservation Plan <br />Page 2 <br />ALTERNATIVES: <br />Should the City chose not to approve the revised MOU, it would continue to <br />independently address compliance with state and federal statutes and <br />regulations relating to environmental and endangeredspecies. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Unknown at this time. Primary financing for the plan is expected to be from <br />endowments from private or non-profit entities, matching grant programs offered <br />by foundations, and State and Federal funds, such as the amount recently <br />received. Also, participating Cities will be required to allocate appropriate staff <br />and support services for planning, tasks. <br />iv- bAVID R. ZAMORA, Community Development Director <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None associated with the execution of the revised MOU. Development and <br />implementation of the plan will require public participation and environmental <br />hearings to address any environmental impacts. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends the City Council approve the Revised Memorandum of <br />Understanding by and between the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the California <br />Department of Fish and Game, the County of San Bernardino, the 15 Affected <br />Cities in Southwestern San Bernardino County and additional Participating <br />Agencies, for the purpose of developing and implementing a Multi -Species <br />Habitat Conservation Plan; authorize the Mayor to execute the Memorandum of <br />Understanding on behalf of the City; and designate the Community Development <br />Director as the primary contact for coordination with the County. <br />DRZ ALS <br />
