SECTION IV
RECOMMENDATIONS
Each of the alternatives are summarized as follows:
Alternative No. Estimated Capital Cost
1 $75,000
2 $130,000
3 $240,000
4 $1,400,000
Since Alternative No. 4 is much more expensive than the other alternatives, we have eliminated it from
further consideration. In addition, since Alternative No. l requires installation of individual pressure
regulators by customers and does not reduce the water pressure within the City's system,we have also
eliminated it from further consideration. To reduce the pressure within the Mohave area and the Matich
` Development Phase I, we recommend Alternative No. 2' at an estimated capital cost of $130,000.
Prior to making any pressure changes in zones we recommend that '
g P at City staff review the... modifications with
property owners to alert them of the, proposed changes in system pressures. In addition, we recommend
that City staff review proposed revisions with California Department of Health Services (CDHS) staff and
obtain their approval prior to initiating any changes with regard to CDHS. We would especially be
g P Y
concerned about the recommended alternative (Alternative No. 2) resulting in four short dead-end
waterlines in Malibu Court, East Topanga Way, East Carbon Court, and East Bryce Court; dead -ends
result in additional maintenance requirements (i.e. flushing) that do not exist with looped systems.
IV -1
