system pressure. individual pressure regulators would need to be removed from service on South
Laurehsood Avenue, South Walter Court, South Mohave Drive, and South Cindee Lane.
The pressure reducing station would be a belowground facility and would include connections to
the existing 12" waterline, valves, piping; and a minimum of two pressure reducing valves; one
pressure reducing valve would be sized to provide domestic flows, while the second pressure
P g
reducing valve would be sized to provide fire flows.
Theressure regulators would be installed on the customer's side of the water meter. The
P City
owns and maintains all facilities up to and including the meter. The customer's are responsible for
installation and maintenance (at their expense) of all facilitiesbeyond the meter necessary to
receive, control, regulate, and utilize the pressure and flow of water furnished by the City.
According to established City policy, it appears that City forces could not install the pressure
regulators for the customers; `however, it may be possible for each customer to arrange for
installation of the pressure regulator with the City subsequently reimbursing the customer for said
installation. City staff should confer with the City's legal counsel to determine if this arrangement
is possible. It "should be made clear to the customers ,that they would be responsible for
maintenance of the pressure regulators.
The estimated capital cost for Alternative No. 1 is $75,000, which includes construction,
legal, fees.
construction contingencies, and administration, and engineering
III -2
