B. ALTERNATIVE NO. 2
Alternative No. 2 consists of the same pressure reducing station for the Mohave area as described
in Alternative No. 1. For the Matich Development Phase I, two pressure reducing stations are
proposed, one on the 8" pipeline in Pepper Tree Lane and one on the 8" pipeline in East Gunnison,
Way. In order for the two pressure reducing stations to function for the Matich Development',
Phase I, the existing control valves (pipeline valves) in Reche Canyon Road at East Malibu Court,
East Topanga Way, East Carbon Court, and East Bryce Court would have to be closed.'
Alternative No. 2 is shown on Figure 5.
Operation of the -Mohave area pressure reducing station would be the same as set forth for'
Alternative No. I (i.e. reduce pressures by approximately 65 psi). The pressure reducing stations'
on the 8" waterlines in Pepper Tree Lane and Gunnison Way would reduce the pressure to all'
residences within Matich Development Phase I and all residences on Pepper Tree Lane and Canyon'
Drive. To maintain a minimum service pressure of 40 psi at the upper elevations of the Matich'
Development Phase I, the pressure reducing stations would be designed to reduce pressures by
approximately 85 psi, which would result in a maximum service pressure of approximately 65 psi'
91
in the lower areas of the Matich Development Phase I. Due to the reduced systemP ressure
individual pressure regulators would need to be removed from service at some of the residences.
The estimated capital cost for Alternative No. 2 is 130 000
P $ which includes construction,
construction contingencies, and administrative, legal, and engineering fees.
III -3
