The administration of the project will be carried out jointly by The Gents and City of Colton Liaison staff, to include student internships. The cost for the City of Colton's Recreation Director is approximately $106,000 including (salary & benefits) for one year (full time). The cost to the City of Colton for the first year of this proposed project will be with a half-time position ($50,000), at 50% less cost to the City that a full-time position would cost. The plan for continued funding is to approach individuals and businesses to support this proposed project, as well as to explore city -funding directives. In no way is The Gents Organization to become involved in funding the city personnel including maintenance. The Gents sole purpose for this proposal is to augment and enhance future programming by administration of scheduled activities to our city youth at the Parks and Recreation Community Center. The Gents Organization was established in 1975 by activation of a 501(c)(3) non-profit status, from Sacramento dept of Charitable Trust. It was designed to be a corporation dedicated to public service. The Gents organization's mission is to ensure that children, who are at -risk in our community due to abuse, neglect, poverty or other circumstance are given a chance to succeed. The goal of the Gents Organization is to be directly responsive to those in need, from youth to senior citizens and to enhance their quality of life. In the 27 years of its existence, The Gents Organization has been successful in being part of raising nearly $300,000 dollars for those less fortunate in our communities. We continually strive to develop partnerships, private and public, to deliver better service to the children and seniors in need. An example of this is our scholarship program for children of low-income families, who are the recipients of financial support. In addition to The Gents Organization, the County Superintendent of Schools, Probation Department, Department of Public Health, Community Services Department, Parks and Recreation, Children's Network and the low-income community residents, in Colton join forces to provide beneficial programs that address the special needs of children and senior citizens who experience financial stress. The Gents Organization has been operating successfully since its inception as a non-profit (1975).
