• Serve as a resource for the engine company and other departmental personnel. <br />• Coordinate fire suppression activities with other divisions departments, and <br />ep ts, organizations. <br />• Provide information and resources to City officials, departments and other organizations as is <br />appropriate. <br />• Provide star' assistance and technical support to engine company personnel, other <br />departmental personnel, and other City departments. <br />• Conduct financial, organizational and operational service delivery studies; make <br />recommendations to address and resolve identified service delivery issues. <br />• Attend andartici ate in <br />P p organizational and community meetings .and .public education <br />programs as necessary. <br />• Stay current on issues relative to the fields of fire suppression and fire prevention. <br />• Respond to and resolve community and organizational inquiries and complaints. <br />• Prepare and present staff reports and other necessary documents or correspondence to <br />appropriate boards communi <br />• Work a variety of shifts including weekends and holidays; be available for emergency call- <br />back when off duty. <br />• Perform other related duties as required. <br />WORKING CONDITIONS: <br />Position requires prolonged sitting, standing, walking,. reaching, twisting, turning, kneelin& <br />bending, squatting, and stooping in the performance of daily activities. The position • also <br />1equires groping, repetitive hand movement, and fine coordination is preparing mPorta using a <br />computer key board. Additionally, the position requires near and for vision in reading written <br />reports and work-related documents. Acute hearing is required when providing phone and <br />counter service. The incumbent may work around or in contact <br />with hazardous materials, blood products and other potentially tout substances, Incumbents <br />may be subject to physical thready verbal abuse, or other suesdU situations: During fire <br />Suppression activities, incumbents wear self-contained b <br />filled buildings: aPP and enter smoke <br />QUALIFICATIONS <br />Education 11ndtor Ezoerienee- <br />Any combination of education and <br />knowledge, skills, and abilities n experience that, hu provided the necessary <br />the r necessary for a Fire Captain, A typical way of obtaining <br />required qualifications is to possess the equivalent of five years of municipal fire <br />suppression experience including Fire Engineer Certification and the equivalent of a high <br />school diploma and successful completion of either the eight course requirements for <br />State of California Fire Officer Certification or the five required core classes for an AS <br />degree in Fire Technology. <br />
