CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />For City Council Meeting of March 17, 1998 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR & C T COUNCIL <br />APPROVAL: Henry Garcia, City Manage <br />FROM: Dennis Morris, Personnel DirectorL j � - <br />SUBJECT: Approval of the Memorandum of Understanding Between the City of <br />Colton and the Colton Fire Fighters Association <br />DATE: March 5, 1998 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Fire Unit expired on March 31, 1997. <br />Representatives of the City and the Fire Fighters Association have been negotiating for a <br />successor MOU over the last several months. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />Representatives of the City and Colton Police Officers Association have reached an agreement <br />with a term to June 30, 2000. The successor MOU is attached as Exhibit A. The changes within <br />the agreement will be incorporated into a subsequent comprehensive MOU. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />The cost of the agreement is approximately $ 123,415 per year. This figure does not include any <br />increase in overtime cost that may result from a salary increase. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that City Council ratify the attached agreement with the Fire Unit and <br />authorize staff to sign the comprehensive MOU on behalf of the City. <br />PREPARED BY: <br />Vicki Porter <br />Item # 12 <br />03/05/96 <br />c:\wdata\Agenda\Fire MOU <br />
