City Council Meeting of March 17, 1998 <br />Reprogramming of CDBG Funds <br />Page 2 <br />The recommended $5,000 allocation to the Legal Aid Society is therefore, <br />contingent upon approval by the County Board of Supervisors. Attached is a <br />copy of the City's request to County Supervisor Jerry Eaves. <br />Inland Temporary Homes provides shelter for homeless individuals and families. <br />In Fiscal Year 1997-98, the City Council allocated $1,000 to assist with the <br />construction of a driveway to the shelter. The $1,000 request for Fiscal Year <br />1998-99 will assist the center with the installation of ADA approved playground <br />resurfacing. <br />The Alley Improvements -East End will include cold plane with 2 inch AC overlay <br />of the alleys between "C", "D", and "E" Streets, from Mt. Vernon Avenue, easterly <br />to their terminus. This project will complement the Alley Improvement project <br />approved by the Council on February 17th, and if combined for construction <br />purposes will result in cost effective bids. <br />The Colton Museum Restoration project is currently underway. Unfortunately, <br />the exterior of the building was found to contain lead-based paint, and additional <br />funds are required to assist with lead abatement costs. <br />All four projects have been determined by the County to be eligible and qualify <br />for CDBG funds. <br />ALTERNATIVES: <br />Not fund any of the projects, and retain the $51,900 in the City's CDBG <br />Contingency Account. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />There is no financial impact to the city general fund. Eligible CDBG costs are <br />reimbursed 100%. There are sufficient funds in the Contingency Account to <br />support this request.,, <br />Development Director <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None. <br />
