City Council Meeting of March 17, 1998
Reprogramming of CDBG Funds
Page 2
The recommended $5,000 allocation to the Legal Aid Society is therefore,
contingent upon approval by the County Board of Supervisors. Attached is a
copy of the City's request to County Supervisor Jerry Eaves.
Inland Temporary Homes provides shelter for homeless individuals and families.
In Fiscal Year 1997-98, the City Council allocated $1,000 to assist with the
construction of a driveway to the shelter. The $1,000 request for Fiscal Year
1998-99 will assist the center with the installation of ADA approved playground
resurfacing.
The Alley Improvements -East End will include cold plane with 2 inch AC overlay
of the alleys between "C", "D", and "E" Streets, from Mt. Vernon Avenue, easterly
to their terminus. This project will complement the Alley Improvement project
approved by the Council on February 17th, and if combined for construction
purposes will result in cost effective bids.
The Colton Museum Restoration project is currently underway. Unfortunately,
the exterior of the building was found to contain lead-based paint, and additional
funds are required to assist with lead abatement costs.
All four projects have been determined by the County to be eligible and qualify
for CDBG funds.
ALTERNATIVES:
Not fund any of the projects, and retain the $51,900 in the City's CDBG
Contingency Account.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
There is no financial impact to the city general fund. Eligible CDBG costs are
reimbursed 100%. There are sufficient funds in the Contingency Account to
support this request.,,
Development Director
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
None.
