CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />For City Council Meeting of October 20, 1998 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor & City Council <br />`l <br />APPROVAL: Henry Garcia, City Manager ` <br />FROM: Dennis Morris, Human Resource Director�,TVN.- <br />SUBJECT: Approval of the Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) Between the City <br />of Colton and; Fire, Police Rank & File, and Electric Units, and <br />compensation for the Executive Unit. <br />DATE: October 8, 1998 <br />BACKGROUND: The memorandums of understanding (MOU) with the Police and Electric <br />Units expired on June 30, 1998. Representatives of the City and Police Officers Association <br />have been negotiating for a successor MOU over the last several months. <br />The MOU with the Fire Association provides for salary "reopeners" in April 1998 and April <br />1999. In addition, the agreement with the General and Management/Confidential units was <br />recently approved by the City Council and normally consideration regarding compensation is <br />given to Executive Management at the same time. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: Representatives of the City and Colton Police Officers Association <br />have reached an agreement with a term to June 30, 2000. The successor MOU is attachment <br />"A" to the Police Officers Association Resolution R-92-98. The changes within the agreement <br />will be incorporated into a subsequent comprehensive MOU. <br />Representatives of the City and the Electric Unit have reached an agreement on some <br />compensation issues regarding the implementation of the compensation study. The agreement <br />provides for payment of a "one time bonus" of $200, a 4% salary increase retroactive to 7/1/97, <br />and payment of the employee's 2% at 55 PERS contribution, which are the same provisions <br />agreed to as with most other employee units and which will be "credited" toward the results of <br />the study. <br />10/13/98 <br />agd102098 Police Fire Elec Exec <br />Item No. 15 <br />
