CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF September 1, 1998 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor & City Council <br />APPROVAL: Henry Garcia, City Manag C/ <br />FROM: Patrick we, Chief of Police <br />SUBJECT: Request for ratification of employee appointment in the full time <br />position of Police Sergeant in the Police Department. <br />DATE: August 24, 1998 <br />BACKGROUND: There is one (1) vacant Sergeant position in the Police Department. <br />Attached is the job description of the classification; the salary range is $4194.00 per month. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: An eligibility list was established for the position of Police <br />Sergeant on January 15, 1998 as approved by the City Council. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: Funding availability for this approved general fund position in the <br />fiscal year 1998/99 budget funded as follows: Account No. 100-6070-6072-1030 (salary) and <br />Account No. 100-6070-6072-1100 (salary related benefits). <br />Patrick Crowe, Chief of Police <br />EXPECTED FILL DATE: September 8, 1998 <br />CUSTOMER SERVICE IMPACT: The requested Police Sergeant position within the police <br />department ensures proper and adequate supervision and management of police personnel which <br />will monitor performance of personnel, reduce liability and enhance the delivery of police service <br />to the community. <br />RECOMMENDATION: That City Council approve the ratification of the employee <br />appointment to the full-time position of Sergeant as recommended by the Chief of Police. <br />Attachment: Job Description <br />Prepared by: Patrick G.
