Garcia, City Manage <br />From: Sonia Carvalho, City Attorney <br />Subject: Ordinance Amending Section 9.20.055 of the Colton Municipal Code <br />Concerning Alcoholic Beverages in Public Places <br />Date: March 31, 1999 <br />BACKGROUN p <br />Chapter 9.20 of the Colton Municipal Code regulates the consumption of alcoholic beverages in public <br />places. Chapter 9.20 prohibits the consumption of alcoholic beverages in the city`s parks and other <br />public places, unless such consumption is done in conjunction with certain special events. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS <br />The city intends to sponsor several street fairs and special events. The city intends to allow alcoholic <br />beverages be sold at such events. The proposed ordinance amending Section 9.20.C55 specifies that the <br />City and/or the redevelopment agency may sponsor special events and U at the city manager may issue <br />any required permits for such city -related special events where alcohol will be served. <br />The proposed ordinance will authorize the City Manager to approve the necessary alcoholic beverage <br />permit needed for any City -sponsored special event. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT <br />There is no financial impact anticipated with this proposed change. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Introduce and waive first reading of the proposed ordinance amending section 9.20.055 of the Colton <br />Municipal Code. <br />SC/kak <br />Attachment: Proposed Ordinance <br />City Council Staff Reports Alcott Consume 40799ADC <br />Item # 3 <br />
