Surrounding Zoning & Land Use: <br />North: SP/Industrial Park/Interstate 10 Freeway <br />South: SP/Industrial Park/Steel Road, HCS Cutler Parking/Storage Facility <br />East: SP/Industrial Park/American Self -Storage Facility <br />West: SP/Industrial Park/interstate 215 Freeway <br />PROJECT DESCRIPTION: <br />Taormina Industries, Inc., which is dba (doing business as) Colton Disposal, is <br />proposing to establish and operate a solid waste recycling center and transloading <br />facility on an existing 6.14 acre parcel, located at 2059 Steel Road. The proposed <br />project includes the operation of a truck storage yard (for company refuse trucks), <br />utilization of an existing 3,200 square foot cinder block building for truck maintenance <br />and repair, and the installation of an 11,550 square foot metal building for tipping and <br />processing of clean recyclable commodities. <br />The proposed project will also include construction of a 4,500 square foot building for <br />administration and operations, a parking area for employees, customers, and support <br />vehicles, and storage areas for bins, roll -offs, and other equipment. The applicant is <br />proposing to develop the project on approximately two acres at the center of the parcel. <br />The remainder of the property will remain vacant until future expansion of the facility is <br />necessary. The property is zoned SP for the Santa Ana River Redevelopment Project <br />Area Specific Plan, and has a land use designation of I -P (Industrial Park). <br />
