PUBLIC WORKS CREW LEADER CITY OF COLTON <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />Perform other related duties as required. <br />Assists in the development and implementation of goals, annual work plans, policies and <br />procedures for assigned City facilities and services. <br />Participates in the selection, training, coordination and supervision of staff and volunteers. <br />May assist with the development and administration of Division budget. <br />WORKING CONDITIONS: <br />Position requires sifting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, <br />turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping, and making repetitive hand <br />movement in the performance of daily duties. The position also requires both near and far <br />vision when inspecting work and operating assigned equipment. The need to lik carry, and <br />push tools, equipment and supplies weighing 25 pounds or more is also required. Additionally, <br />the incumbent in this outdoor position works in all weather conditions including wet hot, and <br />cold. The incumbent may use cleaning and lubricating chemicals, which may expose the <br />employee to fumes, dust, and air contaminants. The nature of the work also requires the <br />incumbent to climb ladders, use power and noise producing tools and equipment, drive <br />motorized vehicles and heavy equipment, work in heavy vehicle traffic conditions, and often <br />work with constant interruptions. <br />QUALIFICATIONS: <br />Education and/or Expgrience: <br />Any combination of education and experience that has provided the knowledge, abilities, <br />and skills necessary for a Park Maintenance Crew Leader. A typical way of obtaining <br />the required qualifications is to possess at least three years of experience performing <br />streets and/or parks maintenance and a high school diploma. <br />License/Certificate: <br />Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid class A California driver's license. <br />Possession of or ability to obtain within six months of date of hire, Pesticide and <br />Herbicide Applicator's License. <br />KNOWLEDGE/ABI]LITIES/SK[LLS: <br />Knowledge- of - <br />Operations and standard operating procedures of a park maintenance program. <br />Complex principles and practices of parks maintenance. <br />Methods and techniques of lead supervision, training, and motivation. <br />Applicable Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations. <br />Operational characteristics of parks maintenance standard equipment. <br />Occupational hazards and standard safety practices. <br />Methods and techniques for record keeping. <br />Street and other public works construction and maintenance equipment. <br />The operation, care, and preventive maintenance techniques for maintenance equipment. <br />Practices, methods, and materials used in general construction, grounds maintenance, and <br />general maintenance work. <br />
