CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR COUNCIL MEETING OF MAY 4, 1999 <br />TO: Honorable Mayor and City Council <br />APPROVAL: Henry T. Garcia, City Managerk <br />FROM: Tom Hendrix, Fire Chief <br />SUBJECT: Resolution of the City Council Amending Resolution No. R-40-96 as it pertains <br />to the Allocation of the Fourteen Available Licenses for the Operation of <br />Fireworks Booths for the Sale of Fireworks within the City. <br />DATE: April 21, 1999 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On April 16, 1996, the City Council approved Resolution R-40-96 allocating the fourteen available <br />licenses for the sale of fireworks within the City. The Resolution established an approved list, which <br />was to stay in effect until further action by resolution of the City Council repealing or amending said <br />Resolution. <br />TheResolutionaddressed the allocation of four licenses for churches, four licenses for civic non-profit <br />organizations and six licenses for youth groups. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />This past year a request was received from the youth groups to revisit the allocation of youth groups. <br />The Fire Department hosted two meetings to discuss the sharing of the youth groups and possible <br />amendments to R-40-96. Through discussions and a majority vote, a revision to the allocation of <br />licenses for youth groups was agreed upon. <br />There are a total of eight approved youth organizations sharing six licenses. This new arrangement <br />will allow for four organizations to operate their own booths each selling season with the other four <br />sharing. This arrangement will alternate with each selling season. <br />ALTERNATIVES <br />None <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />None <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends approval of the attached resolution amending Resolution No. R-40-96. <br />Report Prepared By: Alan J.
