Registration Payment Refund Policy Workshop Leader Transportation Southwest Airlines Hertz The workshop requires a minimum of three officials, the city manager and two elected officials (mayor or council member), to be registered. Registration priority will be given to larger teams with more elected officials. Because of the hours and the importance that participants be in residence at the workshop, no registrations will be accepted for only the workshop and not the lodging and meals. The registration includes lodging for both nights and all meals as well as the workshop costs, materials, books, breaks, etc. This, along with the fact that attendance is limited in order to provide for maximum involvement by all participating, requires a registration fee of $2,900 for the minimum team of three, plus $700 for each additional official. In order to process registration, payment in full, or at least a non-refundable deposit of $200 per person, must accompany the attached form. Full payment must be made by November 30, 1999, or your spaces will be forfeited. You may pay your registration fee by check, money order, Visa or MasterCard. No purchase orders, American Express or Discover cards please. If paying by credit card, you are welcome to register by faxing 925/283-7833. If a team must cancel before the deadline, any registration fees paid above the non- refundable $200 per person deposit will be refunded. If an official or team must cancel after the deadline, a refund of $250 per person will be made until four weeks prior to the start of the workshop; after this date no refunds can be made because of contractual commitments. Dr. David G. Jones, President, Sentient Systems, Inc., of Santa Barbara, California, has worked with public and private organizations around the country and around the world to help them develop better working relationships among their leadership. In California, he has worked directly with a number of cities in this endeavor and has served as the director of the Continuing Education for Public Officials program, conducted in cooperation with the League. He has led this workshop since its beginning in 1984. Directions will be sent along with other advance preparation materials about one month prior to the workshop. Please allow sufficient travel time to arrive at the workshop site by 4 pm on the first day and to stay until the workshop ends at 1 p.m. on the last day. If you drive, carpooling is recommended. If you fly to Ontario airport, the center offers a shuttle service. Information will be included with the directions. Discount airfares are available for city travel on Southwest Airlines in California. Unrestricted ticket vouchers priced at $60 per segment ($120 round-trip) may be purchased in advance through the League -sponsored Statewide Purchasing Program. If your city has not already purchased a minimum block of six ticket vouchers, contact Karen Durham at the League (916/658-8262) for Southwest information and to request order forms. Allow two to three weeks for delivery. For those who already have ticket vouchers, advanced seat reservations are recommended by calling Southwest toll free at 800/435-9792. Discount rates with unlimited mileage are available one week prior and one week after this meeting from Hertz.
