CLARKE, UTILITY DIRECTOR <br />SUBJECT: AWARD OF FY99-00 AND FY00-01 SLUDGE HAULING CONTRACT <br />TO WM/RPI/BIO GRO IN THE AMOUNT OF $23.45/TON <br />DATE: NOVEMBER 2, 1999 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The FY99-00 and FY00-01 Wastewater Budgets included funds for the hauling of <br />sludge. The existing sludge hauling contract for the Wastewater Treatment Plant <br />expired on June 30, 1999. <br />DISCUSSION: <br />On November 2, 1999, staff received and opened four bids for the FY99-00 sludge <br />hauling contract for the wastewater treatment plant. Also, the bid allows the City, at the <br />recommendation of the Utility Director, to renew the contract for one additional year <br />(FY00-01). The bid results are as follows: <br />1. WM/RPI/Bio Gro $23.45/ton <br />2. Bio -Chem $28.51/ton <br />3. Syna Gro $29.62/ton <br />4. One -Step Landscape $36.00/ton <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Sufficient funds are available in the Wastewater Professional Services Account 522- <br />8200-8200-2350 for sludge hauling. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that Council approve the award of the sludge hauling contract to <br />WM/RPI/Bio Gro in the bid amount of $23.45/ton. <br />Report Prepared By: Lorraine June, Water/Wastewater Admin.
