EQUIPMENT MAINTENANCE MANAGER CITY OF COLTON <br />Page 2 of 3 <br />and assumes responsibility for tracking and ensuring that hazardous waste is disposed of <br />properly. <br />• Develops or assists in the development of specifications for new equipment and materials; <br />projects cost estimates; initiates purchase procedures in compliance with the City's <br />purchasing rules and regulations. <br />• Performs inventories of equipment, tools and materials as is necessary. <br />• Monitors equipment maintenance budget; submits budget recommendations; participates in <br />the forecast of funds needed for staffing, equipment, and other needs. <br />• Performs other related duties as is necessary. <br />WORKING CONDITIONS: <br />Position requires sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, <br />turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping, and making repetitive hand <br />movement in the performance of daily duties. The position also requires both near and far vision <br />when inspecting work and operating assigned equipment. The need to lift, carry and push tools, <br />equipment and supplies weighing 25 pounds or more is also required. Additionally, the <br />incumbent in this outdoor position works in all weather conditions including wet, hot, and cold. <br />The incumbent may use cleaning and lubricating chemicals which may expose the employee to <br />fumes, dust, and air contaminants. The nature of the work also requires the incumbent to climb <br />ladders, use power and noise producing tools and equipment, drive motorized vehicles and heavy <br />equipment, work in heavy vehicle traffic conditions, and often work with constant interruptions. <br />QUALIFICATIONS: <br />Education and/or Experience: <br />Any combination of education and experience that has provided the knowledge, abilities, <br />and skills necessary for a Equipment Maintenance Manager. A typical way of obtaining <br />the required qualifications is to possess at least five years of experience involving <br />equipment maintenance including at least two years of supervisory experience and a high <br />school diploma. <br />License/Certificate: <br />Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid class C California driver's license. <br />KNOWLEDGE/ABILITIES/SKILLS: <br />Knowledge of: <br />Operations and standard operating procedures of an equipment maintenance program. <br />Complex principles and practices of equipment maintenance. <br />Principles and practices of budget administration. <br />Methods and techniques of supervision, training, and motivation. <br />Applicable Federal, State, and local laws, codes and regulations. <br />Operational characteristics of equipment maintenance standard equipment. <br />Occupational hazards and standard safety practices. <br />Methods and techniques for record keeping. <br />Basic principles of mathematics. <br />
