Agency Report — Designation of Survey Area June 6, 2000 Page 2 of 2 Section 33310 of the California Health and Safety Code states that a survey area may be designated by resolution of the legislative body. As such the formation of a new survey area is being presented to the City Council for consideration. Section 33312 of the Health and Safety Code requires that the resolution designating the survey area contain a finding that the area requires study to determine if a redevelopment project or projects within said area are feasible and a description of boundaries of the area designated. Attached as Exhibit "C" to the staff report is a copy of a resolution designating a new survey area. Financial Impact The establishment of a "survey area" will not have an immediate financial impact upon the Agency since it is an administrative action. However, adopting the resolution designating the survey area will authorize the Agency to study the area and perform studies and a feasibility analysis. The ultimate cost of forming a new pr ject area will probably be in excess of $150,000. 01 The Agency did not budget for the cost for adopting a new redevelopment plan in its 1999-2001 two-year budget. However, the Agency will present this proposal as a change item as part of the mid -year budget adjustment. If the Agency does not approve the budget for forming the new project area, then this survey area designation will have no appreciable impact. Recommendation: Adopt Resolution R- - 00 designating a redevelopment survey area for study purposes.
