CITY OF COLTON <br />HhtIVUA KCNUK I rum I nr- kwUUMAL MCC 1 IIVU Ur wimm Jr1 /, LUUU <br />SUBJECT: APPROVAL OF CHANGE ORDER NO. 2 TO THE KRIEGER & <br />STEWART DESIGN CONTRACT FOR WATER AND SEWER LINE <br />REPLACEMENTS IN THE AMOUNT OF $200,000 FOR THE DESIGN <br />OF ADDITIONAL WATER AND SEWER LINE REPLACEMENTS AND <br />CONSTRUCTION INSPECTION; AND APPROVAL OF RESOLUTION <br />ALLOCATING ADDITIONAL FUNDING FOR SEWER LINE <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />The existing sewer lines have reached their life expectancy, and are beginning to <br />deteriorate. If the sewer lines are not replaced now, they will continue to cause raw <br />sewage to backup into the homes connected to the line. This is a health and safety <br />concern that must be immediately corrected. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends that Council approve Change Order No. 2 to Krieger and Stewart for <br />the redesign of water lines in the amount of $8,800, and $122,100 for construction <br />inspection and engineering support services for the sewer line replacements; design of <br />additional water and sewer line replacements in the amount of $69,100, from the Water <br />and Wastewater Capital Improvements Budgets. The total amount for Change Order <br />No. 2 is $200,000.
