CITY OF COLTON <br />PLANNING COMMISSION <br />MINUTES OF THE REGULAR MEETING OF FEBRUARY 8, 2000 <br />CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, 620 NORTH LA CADENA DRIVE, COLTON, CA <br />The meeting was called to order by Chairperson Oliva at 6:33 p.m. <br />Commissioners Present <br />Susan Oliva, Chairperson <br />Tony Vilches, Vice -Chairperson <br />Linda Carter, Commissioner <br />Pete Chavez, Commissioner <br />Richard Prieto, Commissioner <br />Isaac Suchil, Commissioner <br />Staff Present <br />Andres L. Soto, Principal Planner <br />Lisa Banuelos, Associate Planner <br />Wanda Molton, Administrative Secretary <br />Dean Derleth, Legal Counsel <br />Commissioners Absent <br />Ramon Hernandez, Commissioner (excused) <br />ITEM D — ELECTION OF OFFICERS <br />Chairperson Oliva relinquished the Chair to Mr. Soto to conduct the election of officers for <br />the year 2000. <br />Chairperson - Mr. Soto opened the nominations for the position of Chairperson. <br />Chairperson Oliva nominated Vice -Chairperson Vilches; seconded by Commissioner Prieto. <br />Commissioner Chavez nominated Commissioner Suchil. There being no second to <br />Commissioner Chavez's nomination and no further nominations, Vice -Chairperson Vilches <br />was elected by acclamation. <br />Vice -Chairperson — Mr. Soto opened the nominations for the position of Vice -Chairperson. <br />Commissioner Carter nominated Commissioner Oliva; seconded by Chairperson Vilches. <br />Commissioner Chavez nominated Commissioner Suchil; seconded by Commissioner Prieto. <br />There were no other nominations. <br />Voting by the Commission resulted in a tie, three votes for each candidate. Mr. Soto <br />suggested that the Commission might wish to continue the item until all members of the <br />Commission were present. Commissioner Suchil stated that he did not wish to continue this <br />item, therefore, he voluntarily withdrew from the nomination. Commissioner Oliva was <br />proclaimed Vice -Chairperson. <br />ITEM E - ORAL COMMUNICATION <br />None. <br />Chairperson Vilches stated that there had been a request to hear Item G-1 at this time. <br />Hearing no objections from the Commission, he declared that Item G-1 would be heard. <br />ITEM G — COMMISSION CONSIDERATION <br />1. Presentation by the Lightfoot Planning Group on the Housing Element Update. <br />Ms. Banuelos stated that the City had contracted with the Lightfoot Planning Group to <br />prepare the update for the Housing Element and the new Historic Preservation <br />Element. <br />
