Barrera, City Clerk <br />SUBJECT: CERTIFICATION OF SPECIAL MUNICIPAL ELECTION HELD <br />NOVEMBER 6, 2001, IN THE CITY OF COLTON <br />DATE: November 28, 2001 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />At the February 20, 2001 Council Meeting the City Council adopted Resolution No. R- <br />14-01, Calling and Giving Notice of a Special Municipal Election to be held in the City of <br />Colton to fill the unexpired term of the elected position of Councilmember/District 5. <br />DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS: <br />The City Council by adoption of Resolution No. R-15-01 authorized the county election <br />department of the County of San Bernardino to canvass the returns of the Special <br />Municipal Election. The canvas was completed on November 26, 2001. <br />FINANCIAL IMPACT: <br />Estimated cost is $2,400. The Registrar of Voters required a 25% deposit of the <br />estimated cost for the November 6, 2001 Election. This was paid in October of 2001 in <br />the amount of $600. The Invoice for the balance owing is expected after the first of the <br />year. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />None. <br />RECOMMENDATION: <br />Staff recommends adoption of the attached Resolution, reciting the facts and declaring <br />the results of the November 6, 2001, Special Municipal Election. <br />Attachment: Resolution No. R-115-01. <br />
