CITY OF COLTON
AGENDA REPORT
For the Council Meeting of November 20, 2001
TO: Honorable Mayor & City Council
2
FROM: Ronald C. Kenny, Director of Parks, Recreation & Family Services
SUBJECT: Budget Expenditure Request
DATE: November 14, 2001
BACKGROUND:
The pool at the Colton Community Center is in need of re -tiling. The current tile has
served its purpose well, since the construction of the pool. However, it has become
unsightly due to continuous use as well as the elements, and has recently deteriorated to
the point of disrepair, presenting a potential safety hazard to participants.
DISCUSSION/ANALYSIS:
The Parks, Recreation & Family Services Department is attempting to coordinate the
interruption of use to facilitate the installation of new tile in the pool. The project is not a
budgeted item, as the necessity of replacement was not evident, and could not be
predicted at the time of budget preparation.
FINANCIAL IMPACT:
A general solicitation of bids from potential contractors indicates that this project will cost
up to $10,000 to complete. The requested budget allocation is not to exceed $10,000.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT:
None
Staff recommends Council approval of the attached resolution and authorize the increase
of the budget in the Parks, Recreation and Family Services Aquatic Division Account
#100-6200-6203-2350 by $10,000. This increased appropriation is to be utilized for the
sole purpose of installing new tile at the community pool.
PREPARED BY:
Bill Smith, Recreation Services Manager
IEW TEAa// ,
Attorney:1Luu-rT
Manager:
Finance Director:
OTHER:
Item #9
