CITY OF COLTON <br />STOREKEEPER <br />DEFINITION: <br />Under the general supervision of the Warehouse Supervisor, performs the full array of duties assigned to the class of <br />Storekeeper including responsibility for receiving, storage and issuance of materials for City departments; <br />demonstrates a full understanding of all applicable policies, procedures and work methods associated with assigned <br />duties; occasionally assists in the training of new employees; performs a variety of other tasks in support of assigned <br />area of responsibility. <br />DISTINGUISHING CHARACTERISTICS: <br />The Storekeeper is the journey level class responsible for operation of the City and Electric Utility materials <br />warehouse. This class is distinguished from the Warehouse Supervisor class that has overall responsibility for the <br />warehouse operations. <br />ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: (include but are not limited to the following) <br />• Demonstrates a full understanding of applicable policies, procedures and work methods associated with <br />Storekeeper duties. <br />• Handles supplies, receiving, and posting; correct administration of associated paperwork including purchase <br />orders, reconciling monthly reports to the Finance Department and Electric Utility Division. <br />• Ensures the proper handling and storage for a variety of supplies including tires, filters, transmission fluid, anti- <br />freeze, gasoline, oil, diesel, and batteries for the Electric Utility and a variety of other City departments and <br />services. <br />• Calculates labor, parts and hourly charges; delivers products to operating departments; shops and prices <br />products; searches and locates products and supplies; and assures that City operations and services are not <br />interrupted due to inability to supply store products. <br />• Assures within applicable policies and rules that the highest and lowest cost of products is achieved. <br />• Performs other related duties as required. <br />WORKING CONDITIONS: <br />Position requires sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, <br />bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily <br />duties. The position also requires both near and far vision when inspecting work and operating assigned equipment. <br />The need to lift, carry and push tools, equipment and supplies weighing 25 pounds or more is also required. <br />Additionally, the incumbent in this position may use cleaning and lubricating chemicals that may expose the <br />employee to fumes, dust and air contaminants. The nature of the work also requires the incumbent to climb ladders, <br />drive motorized vehicles and heavy equipment, work in heavy vehicle traffic conditions and work with constant <br />interruption. <br />
