PREPARED BY ,JEAN KRISLE.
QUARTERLY LUNCHEONS
Again, historically, the City of Colton and Colton Chamber of Commerce have either
individually or as partners, hosted quarterly meetings during the breakfast or lunch
hours for business owners and community members.
Whether to honor individual businesses, recognize outstanding citizens, or provide
educational opportunities or to simply meet and greet, these luncheons provide the four
corners of the business outreach efforts in our City.
The four luncheons to be produced for the City include:
• Annual Business Recognition Luncheon
• State of the City Luncheon
• Economic Forecast Breakfast
• Citizen of the Year Recognition Luncheon
PAGE 2
&own bagging or catered, breaking bread with associates and
colleagues is one of the best ways to build relationships
In the past, the events have been coordinated from within the Redevelopment
Agency. In discussions with them, and the City Manager, It is obvious this responsibility needs to be transferred and coordinated
with their input. What an exciting opportunity for the City and Chamber to work together in a team effort to strengthen and
recognize our local businesses.... the lifeblood of our City's economic health.
PUBLIC RELATIONS
The history of the Oty of Colton Is rich with a golden heritage of pioneers, citrus ranchers, Industrial powers, manufacturing
giants and conscientious citizens. The modern, more public, history includes some unfortunate misuses of power by uncouth and
dishonest persons who betrayed public trust and fooled even their closes colleagues.
There has never been a time in our history when a positive, productive and continuous flow of information was needed more.
Our community, including both business and residential citizens, is a thriving bustle of positive activities and brave accomplish-
ments. These events and individual or group victories are truly the heartbeat of the City of Colton, and instead of being unnoticed
or unpublished, should be praised and noted at every opportunity.
The Colton City Council has done a marvelous Job of recognizing groups, individuals and events at their meetings on a regular
basis, but a constant and continuous flow of information, through established and yet undiscovered methods of simple, yet direct
communication to our business owners, their respective staffs and to our community members.,
Several ideas are in the works within our Chamber offices, after precursory discussion with the City Manager, including
• a partnering with the Electric Utlllty to disseminate timely City -related
Information in the monthly billings
• formation of an innovative ALERT & INFORMATION Network, in
coordination with the City, to allow Instant notification to all business license
holders within the City of Colton, of any activity or occurrence they should be
aware of This would be handled through our office and the Instant Alerts
"Those who live in the fast lone, would be sent via fax or email or both. General information would be sent
most look out for the speed humps of I fe. " weekly In a quick and easy -to -read format via the same avenues of communi-
cation
Author Unknown • a constant flow of positive news bites to all voice and print communica-
tions companies, with personal relationships developed and maintained with
their respective representatives
• regular contact with the Individual City departments, as well as they,
Offices of the City Manager and City Council, for updating on current and
pending projects and events, as desired, to ensure the continuous flow of
accurate and pertinent information to the public
