EXHIBIT A The following information explains the methods used by the Colton Police Department to determine the proposed amount to be charged by the City of Colton for the public safety service fee as described in Colton Municipal Code Section 9.16.010(C). The proposed fee amount is as follows: Public Safety Service Fee $30.00/hour, billed in quarter hour increments The proposed fee was determined by calculating the hourly cost for Police Department staff and by reviewing the amount of time typically required to respond to public safety service calls as described in Colton Municipal Code Section 9.16.010. The average hourly cost of staff time was determined by averaging the salaries of the Cotton Police Department personnel, including Police Officers and clerical personnel, who are typically involved in responding to public safety service calls as described in the above Municipal Code section. Based on the salaries of these staff members, the average hourly cost of staff was determined to be $30.00. The public safety service fee will be billed in quarter hour increments for the total amount of response time required for Colton Police Department personnel to respond to public safety service calls, pursuant to Colton Municipal Code Section 9.16.010. The Chief of Police or his or her designee shall cause appropriate billings to be sent to each person responsible for the violation for which a public safety service fee is imposed under Colton Municipal Code Section 9.16.010.
