R-22-02 <br />RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF COLTON IN SUPPORT OF PROPOSITION <br />40 (THE CALIFORNIA CLEAN WATER, CLEAN AIR, SAFE <br />NEIGHBORHOOD PARKS, AND COASTAL PROTECTION ACT OF 2002) <br />WHEREAS, California's state, regional, and local parks serve as recreational, social, <br />cultural centers for California's communities, providing important venues for youth <br />and safety; community identity; protection of natural, cultural and historic sites, parkland <br />open space; and tourism, and <br />WHEREAS, in order to maintain a high quality of life for California's growing <br />a continuing investment in parks, recreation facilities, and in the protection of the <br />natural, cultural and historic resources is needed, and <br />WHEREAS, each generation of Californians has an obligation -to be good stewards <br />these natural and community resources in order to pass them onto their children, and <br />WHEREAS, California's citizens and visitors have increased their visits to state and <br />parks for healing and strength, sense of community, freedom and peace during these <br />times, and <br />WHEREAS, California is known for its incredible natural rRsources of open space, <br />mountains, rivers, coastline, and forests that positively impact the state and local economy, and <br />WHEREAS, California is largely an urban state where it is projecAed the <br />population will continue to grow by 18 million by 2020; thereby placing more pressure <br />existing parkland and facilities, and <br />WHEREAS, California's towns and cities need to expand their parks and rRcreationa <br />facilities in their neighborhoods to accommodate the needs of their children, adults and <br />and <br />
