Agenda Report for July 16, 2002
July 9, 2002
Consequently, the PDT is recommending Alternative No. 1 because of the reasons listed above
and because it is also the only alternative that we estimate the project will fall within the
budget constraints.
The consultant firm conducted a workshop at the SANBAG office on May 6, 2002, to present the
alternatives to the respective Mayors, City Council Members and interested parties in
attendance from the cities of San Bernardino and Colton. At that workshop the elected officials
unofficially supported the PDT recommendation for the Hunts Lane Grade Separation. The City
of San Bernardino took similar action as requested here on June 17, 2002 supporting the
recommendation listed below. This requested action was coordinated with the Engineering
Department, reviewed by the DRC on July 1, 2002, and the Planning Commission on July 9,
2002.
Staff scheduled time for the consultants' presentation during the Presentation segment of the
City Council meeting on July 16, 2002, to further facilitate information and answer questions
regarding this project.
FINANCIAL IMPACT
There is no financial impact associated with this project. This project is 100% funded through
the State Transportation Congestion Relief Program (ICRP). Based on the preliminary
estimated costs, this project will receive up to $17,210,000.00.
ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT
A contract was previously issued to a consulting firm, LSA, Project Manager King Thomas, who
is preparing all the appropriate environmental documents.
RECOMMENDATION
Approve the recommended preliminary design alternative for the Grade Separation at Hunts
Lane.
Attachments: Location Map
Aerial Image
Evaluation Matrix
REVIEW TEAM
City Attorney: If Finance Director:
City Manager: OTHER:
