Item #4 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE COUNCIL MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 03, 2002 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND MEMBERS OF THE CITY <br />COUNCIL <br />FROM: AMER JAKHER P.E., CITY ENGINEER 6 <br />SUBJECT: APPROVE AND ADOPT RESOLUTION AMENDING THE <br />BUDGET FOR FISCAL YEAR COMMENCING JULY 1, 2001 <br />AND ENDING JUNE 30, 2002 AND FINAL ACCEPTANCE AND <br />RECORDING OF NOTICE OF COMPLETION FOR COLTON <br />MUSEUM RESTORATION C.D.B.G. PROJECT #104-22212 — <br />KITSON SPECIALTY CONTRACTING, INC. <br />DATE: AUGUST 12, 2002 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />This is a Community Block Grant Project, (4104-22212) for the Colton Museum Restoration Project, <br />located at the Southeast corner of La Cadena Drive and "G" Street. The work consisted of a waterproof <br />system for the exterior foundation walls, lead Abatement of the building exterior, exterior painting of the <br />structure and front door replacement. <br />The contract was approved by the City Council at the regularly scheduled Council Meeting of June 20, <br />2000, and awarded to Kitson Specialty Contracting, Inc., the lowest responsive bidder, at an estimated cost <br />of $148,027.00. Bid item # 8 (18" Mow Strip) in the amount of $6,303.00 was deleted by City Council in <br />the original contract. <br />The contract documents were executed on August 25, 2000. The project time schedule suffered several <br />delays due to complications with the existing foundation walls. During the construction of this C.D.B.G. <br />Historical Restoration Project, 4 Change Orders were necessary, both increasing and decreasing the <br />contract. The change orders are as follows: <br />♦ Change Order No. 1, to prepare surface of the foundation wall for the new <br />Waterproofing membrane, increase project cost in the amount of $2,100.00. <br />♦ Change order No. 2, to provide mortar pointing joints to foundation wall, increasing cost in amount of <br />$14,649.00; and brick replacement/pipe capping, increasing cost in the amount by $1,580.00, for a total <br />project cost increase of $16,229.00 <br />♦ Change Order No. 3, to repair additional cracks and spalls at the west <br />elevation / entrance area, increasing project cost in amount of $5,339.00 <br />♦ Change Order No.4, deletion of the roofing, decreasing project cost by $15,030.00. <br />The total construction cost for this project is $156,689.50; (See attachment (1)) <br />
