Item #20 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF JULY 1, 2003 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />FROM: AMER JAKHER, P.E., CITY ENGINEER ,Al <br />l <br />SUBJECT: APPROVE RESOLUTION AMENDING THE BUDGET FOR <br />MEASURE I FOR REHABILITATION OF A SECTION OF COOLEY <br />DRIVE AND APPROVING CHANGE ORDERS #1 & #2 TO THE <br />CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT OF MATICH CORPORATION FOR <br />THE CONSTRUCTION OF EDA PROJECT NO. 07-01-05132 <br />(INFRASTRUCTURE IMPROVEMENTS IN THE COOLEY RANCH <br />AREA) IN THE AMOUNT OF $122,102.50 AND $63,038.80 <br />RESPECTIVELY. <br />DATE: JUNE 23, 2003 <br />On June 17, 2003, the City Council approved and adopted the resolution setting aside $10,200 from <br />unallocated Measure I as a match for $38,100 grant from Transportation Development Act, Article <br />3 funding. The grant is for the construction of Cooley Ranch Bikelane along Cooley Drive from <br />Mount Vernon Avenue to Washington Street, Barton Road from Washington Street to City <br />Boundary and Cooley Lane from Cooley Drive to Hunts Lane (see Exhibit A). If not spent or <br />encumbered by June 30, 2003, funds for Cooley Ranch Bike Lane project will expire. Due to <br />deterioration and unsafe condition of the pavement, it is necessary to reconstruct a portion of <br />Cooley Drive from Mount Vernon to current EDA project for $122,102.50 (see Exhibit B). <br />Change Order No. 2 for an amount of $63,038.80 is due to conditions encountered at the site of the <br />EDA Project during the construction such as improvements of storm drain system exiting 1-215, <br />water lateral relocation, Electric Department field requirements, replace AC bene with concrete <br />curb, and remove and replace manhole covers along Cooley Drive. This Change Order also <br />includes the construction of sewer main to serves a parcel on the frontage road. <br />ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: <br />Change Order #1 will allows for construction of new overlay over existing pavement on Cooley <br />Drive between Mt. Vernon Avenue and current EDA Project. <br />The items involves in Change Order No. 2 are due to condition encountered during construction, <br />with the exception of the construction of a new sewer main.
