Item #1 CITY OF COLTON AGENDA REPORT FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF JUNE 3, 2003 TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS FROM: AMER JAKHER, P.E., CITY ENGINEER e SUBJECT: AUTHORIZATION REQUEST TO ENTER INTO A REIMBURSEMENT AGREEMENT WITH CITY OF GRAND TERRACE FOR STREET RESTORATION OF MT. VERNON AVENUE FROM GRAND TERRACE ROAD, NORTHERLY TO THE I-215 NORTH BOUND OFF -RAMP. CITY SHARE OF CONSTRUCTION COST ESTIMATE TO BE $27,569.92 DATE: MAY 27. 2003 BACKGROUND: The condition of the Mt. Vernon Avenue from Grand Terrace Road northerly to the I-215 North Bound off -ramp is seriously deteriorating. The City of Grand Terrace has requested participation of the City in assisting with the paving restoration of this section of roadway. The City of Grand Terrace has held a public bid and awarded a contract to Roquent to perform pavement restoration to selected streets within the City of Grand Terrace. In the anticipation of possibly having joint support from City of Colton in the repair of Mt Vernon Avenue, Roquent was asked to provide a cost estimate for both Grand Terrace and City of Colton portion of work. See attachment "A" for cost breakdown. City of Grand Terrace is requesting the City to enter into a reimbursement agreement in the amount of $27,569.92. City of Grand Terrace would be the lead Agency for the project. They will front all cost and at the completion of the project bill the City for their fair share of the cost. ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: The project would consist of pavement grinding, a leveling course, and adding a 3" petromat overlay to this section of roadway. This project will be performed in accordance to prevailing wage requirements. The City Attorney has prepared a reimbursement agreement for the road restoration between the
