February 5, 2003
The Gas Company
Ms. Hilda Rubalcava
P. O. Box 513249
Los Angeles, CA 90051-3249
RE: Principal:
Claimant:
Incident:
Our File:
Dear Ms. Rubalcava:
City of Colton
The Gas Company
July 24, 2002
30273SA / I420
1t03 FEB 1 I M 1P 26
We are the claim administrators for the City of Colton. In that capacity we are in receipt
of your claim of damages to your service line.
We have now completed our investigation into your claim by receiving and reviewing
the departmental report. Two days previous to this incident the Construction Site
Supervisor for Food 4 Less contacted the City regarding the' breakage of a City of Colton
water main during their digging. In discussions with the Site Supervisor it was agreed
City of Colton employees would repair the main line damage and move the line in order
to accommodate the completion of the Food 4 Less project. City of Colton employees
inquired if there were any service lines in the area and were advised by the construction
crew and Site Supervisor the only line in the area was an electrical line. Keeping in mind
there had occurred a water main line break, there was an abundance of mud and dirt in
the work area due to the wash-out. When City of Colton employees began the repair
work they hit your line. The Gas Company was called and responded; he advised the
City of Colton personnel there were no visible markings on the street advising of their
presence and declared it not to be the fault of the City of Colton.
With the above in mind, we have recommended denial of your claim. The City will be
taking the above into consideration and will advise you in writing of their decision. We
would request you please check with your personnel who responded to this scene as to
their verification of the above statements.
CARL WARREN & CO.
An Employee -Owned Company
CLAIMS MANAGEMENT • CLAIMS ADJUSTERS
P.O.
