Item #12 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF May 6, 2003 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />FROM: AMER JAKHER, P.E., CITY ENGINEER �3 <br />SUBJECT: APPROVE RESOLUTION NO.('_ -3i AMENDING THE BUDGET <br />FOR FISCAL YEAR JULY 1, 2001 AND ENDING JUNE 30, 2003 <br />TO APPROPRIATE FUNDS FOR REHABILITATION OF A <br />SECTION OF AGUA MANSA ROAD AND APPROVE <br />ENTERING INTO A COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT WITH <br />THE COUNTY OF SAN BERNARDINO FOR SAID <br />IMPROVEMENTS. <br />DATE: APRIL 21, 2003 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On February 25, 2003, the County of San Bernardino had notified the City of Colton of their <br />intention to rehabilitate a segment of Agua Mansa Road. The proposed project starts from east <br />County limit (0.08 miles west of Rancho Avenue) to west County limit (see exhibit "A") with an <br />approximate length of 0.65 miles. The City of Colton and the County of San Bernardino shares <br />equal jurisdiction for this road, the County is seeking City's participation in this project by <br />proportionally sharing the cost of the project. The northern half of this street lies in the jurisdiction <br />of the County of San Bernardino and the southern half lies in the jurisdiction of the City of Colton. <br />The County will be the lead agency for this project. <br />Since the 0.08 mile from Rancho Avenue to east County limit was not included in the original <br />project cost estimate, the City of Colton notified the county of its intention to include this segment <br />and pay for any additional cost incur by this portion. The estimated project cost for this 0.73 -mile <br />road segment (from Rancho Avenue to west County limit) is approximately $247,000 with the City <br />of Colton sharing 55% ($135,815.67) and the remaining 45% ($111,184.33) to be shared by the <br />County of San Bernardino. The City of Colton will have a bigger share due to 0.08 mile that is <br />solely in its jurisdiction. <br />ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: <br />The project will be beneficial to the City, considering the increasing volume of traffic that uses this <br />
