Item #15 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF MAY 6, 2003 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />FROM: AMER JAKHER, P.E., CITY ENGINEER 9) <br />SUBJECT: AUTHORIZATION TO FILE A CLAIM FOR REIMBURSEMENT <br />OF MILL STREET BEAUTIFICATION PROJECT — ( LOCAL <br />TRANSPORTATION FUND ARTICLE 3 BICYCLE, PEDESTRIAN <br />AND ACCESS TO TRANSIT CLAIM) <br />DATE: APRIL 28, 2003 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />The Mill Street Beautification Project included construction of pedestrian sidewalks and <br />accessibility ramps to Transit Facilities, along a portion of Mill Street. <br />On May 21, 2002 construction contract for the Mill Street Beautification Project was awarded by <br />the City Council to Holland Lowe Construction for the amount of $56,807.35. Due to change <br />orders, in favor of the City, the final cost of the project was $53,563.80. The Project was completed <br />and a Notice of Completion was filed on July 16, 2002. In order for the City to receive <br />reimbursement from Local Transportation fund, a reimbursement claim form must be filed. <br />ANALYSIS/DISCUSSION: <br />The Actual project cost of the Mill Street Beautification Project was $53,563.80 and Total Project <br />Expenditure funded by the Local Transportation Fund is $39,840.00. A reimbursement claim form <br />must be filed with San Bernardino Associated Governments in order to receive $39,840.00 of Local <br />Transportation Fund money. The remaining $13,723.80 was paid by Traffic Congestion Relief <br />Fund. <br />ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT: <br />The proposed public improvement is exempt under CEQA Section 15301 (b) — Repairs of existing <br />highways and streets. <br />
