SCHEDULEPBC PUBLIC BENEFIT CHARGE PURPOSE Page No. 65 The purpose of the Public Benefit Charge, as mandated by the State of California, is to provide for the funding of any or all of the following: (1) Cost-effective demand-side management services to promote energy -efficiency and energy conservation; (2) New investment in renewable energy resources and technologies consistent with existing statutes and regulations which promote those resources and technologies; (3) Research, development and demonstration programs for the public interest to advance science or technology which is not adequately provided by competitive and regulated markets; (4) Services provided for low-income electricity customers, including but not limited to, targeted energy efficiency service and rate discounts. APPLICABILITY Applicable to all existing and future retail customers of the City of Colton Electric for as long as required by State Law. PUBLIC BENEFIT CHARGE (per kWh) Effective January 1, 1998 "R'FVTqTON.q $0.0029 This schedule is subject to revision by the City Council. Reasons for such a change include, but are not limited to, any of the following: changes in energy usage within the system, a change in the revenue requirement, or a change in the required percent of revenue. The City shall provide 6 months advance notice of any increase in the Public Benefit Charge. RESIDENTIAL LOW INCOME ASSISTANCE PROGRAM This program provides for once a year financial assistance to eligible customers. 1 . Eligibility: The Low Income Assistance Program is only available to customers receiving electric service from Colton Electric Utilities. Customers must meet income requirements as set forth by the California Alternative Rates for Energy (CARE).
