SCHEDULEPBC <br />PUBLIC BENEFIT CHARGE <br />PURPOSE <br />Page No. 65 <br />The purpose of the Public Benefit Charge, as mandated by the State of California, is to <br />provide for the funding of any or all of the following: (1) Cost-effective demand-side <br />management services to promote energy -efficiency and energy conservation; (2) New <br />investment in renewable energy resources and technologies consistent with existing <br />statutes and regulations which promote those resources and technologies; (3) Research, <br />development and demonstration programs for the public interest to advance science or <br />technology which is not adequately provided by competitive and regulated markets; (4) <br />Services provided for low-income electricity customers, including but not limited to, <br />targeted energy efficiency service and rate discounts. <br />APPLICABILITY <br />Applicable to all existing and future retail customers of the City of Colton Electric for as <br />long as required by State Law. <br />PUBLIC BENEFIT CHARGE (per kWh) <br />Effective January 1, 1998 <br />"R'FVTqTON.q <br />$0.0029 <br />This schedule is subject to revision by the City Council. Reasons for such a change <br />include, but are not limited to, any of the following: changes in energy usage within the <br />system, a change in the revenue requirement, or a change in the required percent of <br />revenue. The City shall provide 6 months advance notice of any increase in the Public <br />Benefit Charge. <br />RESIDENTIAL LOW INCOME ASSISTANCE PROGRAM <br />This program provides for once a year financial assistance to eligible customers. <br />1 . Eligibility: The Low Income Assistance Program is only available to customers <br />receiving electric service from Colton Electric Utilities. Customers must meet <br />income requirements as set forth by the California Alternative Rates for Energy <br />(CARE). <br />
