Item #9 <br />CITY OF COLTON <br />AGENDA REPORT <br />FOR THE CITY COUNCIL MEETING OF MARCH 16, 2004 <br />TO: HONORABLE MAYOR AND CITY COUNCIL MEMBERS <br />FROM: AMER JAKHER, P.E., CITY ENGINEER (! -0) <br />SUBJECT: APPROVE AMENDMENT TO THE DESIGN CONTRACT OF GK <br />AND ASSOCIATES9 ADDING WASHINGTON STREET - <br />COOLEY RANCH AREA STREETS IMPROVEMENT PROJECT <br />IN THE AMOUNT OF $759500. <br />DATE: MARCH 3, 2004 <br />BACKGROUND: <br />On March 2, 2004, the City Council and Redevelopment Agency approved resolution allocating <br />remaining funds from Santa Ana Redevelopment Project Area to three (3) projects identified as; <br />reconstruction of Cooley Ranch Wood Subdivision, reconstruction of Cooley Drive from 1-215 to <br />Cooley Lane and reconstruction of Old Ranch Road. Public Services Department recommends <br />combining these projects with three other projects within the same area namely, Slurry Seal <br />Phase 1, Washington Street Improvements and Reche Canyon Road Improvements (all funded by <br />Measure 1). Combining these projects will result in substantial saving of staff time and <br />expeditious completion of the projects. All of these projects are within District 5 and the <br />locations are as follows: <br />a. Washington Street - RV Center Drive to Bluff Road; Cooley Drive to Reche Canyon <br />Road. <br />b. Cooley Ranch Mohave Drive Subdivision - includes Chumash Ave., Mojave Drive, <br />Cahuilla Drive, Cindee Lane, Skyview Drive, Laurelwood Drive and Walter Court. <br />c. Cooley Ranch Wood Street Subdivision - includes Valleywoods, Saddlewood, <br />Applewood, Pepperwood, Plurnwood, Smokewood, Elmwood, Peachwood, <br />Smallwood, Riverwood and Mountainwood. <br />d. Cooley Drive - from 1-215 (end of EDA project) to Cooley Lane. <br />e. Cooley Ranch - Old Ranch Road Subdivision - includes Old Ranch Road, Canyon <br />View, Valley Springs, Blue Ridge and Mountain View. <br />f. Reche Canyon Road Drainage & Street Improvement <br />Some of the aforementioned streets require rehabilitation by cold planing and overlay, while <br />others are slated for reconstruction, requiring surveying and engineering design. The estimated <br />construction cost for the combined projects is $1,500,000. <br />
